Why would hours played matter?

Ignoring the fact that portions of the game were removed: Because the refund system is designed around the idea that after a few hours of gameplay you realize you don’t like the game. A short trial. If you play for 400+ hours you obviously enjoy the game and have likely beaten the game several times in the case of story-based gameplay. It would not be cool to be getting refunds on games where you’ve experienced all there was to offer. All in all, it’s abnormal for refunding to be allowed after so much time played.

Developers want to play shitty games, and think they have all the power. It’ll take the backing of companies like Steam, PSN, and XBox to side with players to ensure that this doesn’t become the norm.

It's the same as buying a saw and returning it after the job's done. Most people end up not doing it.
