what's the end goal here Zohran. 'Socialism' (actually social democracy) but with a roving gang of armed and organized fascists that we just ignore? are we just going to kick the issue of systemic racism down the road because it's "woke 1" to even talk about, until it becomes a powder keg again? this is the actual internal DSA white chauvinism contradiction that MSM are clawing to find but they won't use it as a real wedge because it'd increase the salience of Defund again

I mean, I don't really think anything is going to come out of electoralism at this point. At least nothing that is going to actually change things significantly. I think the only thing that can happen is how ease of a off ramp we will get before the inevitable crash and rebuild comes. At this point I do not think the DSA can actually defund the police let alone abolish it for anything that actually has a function because inevitably they believe in the American idea of police.

The way I see it, if something good happens out of electoralism then great! But i'm not going to waste my time or energy on it. I've tried and it just feels like it takes way to much energy for how little comes out of it. No wonder you have people feeling doomed all the time. The whole apparatus is designed to take your energy and turn it for the good of the empire.

If you do electoralism you spend all of your time figuring out how to beat moneyed interests on their home turf where they make the rules. And your only tools are to (1) become one of them (seek funding from capital that wants you to moderate) or (2) rely entirely on a mass of volunteers and donations that sucks up all of their time and is then discarded the moment someone is elected.

There are ways to do this better, to prevent burnout, to have an ongoing machine that has a base beyond electoral cycles while still doing electoralism, but it requires a very different organizational approach than is normally adopted by the groups that have affinity for elections.
