I never noticed he actually does have a missing tooth in that first panel. Though if you look closely, in full 1080p, you can tell they just painted the actor's tooth black.

Good thing it was the plot gun that does whatever the writers want it to do!
Sure, the zat is a bit of a gimmick, but I always thought the three escalating effects kinda fit the vibe of the goauld tech in general.
The shooting will continue, until morale improves.

I noticed that while making this. You would expect the Zat to do the whole erection thing here before Teal'c fires. But no, just a couple frames after what you see here in this meme, that Zat fires, from its flaccid position.
From memory the early zat props were either open or closed, they weren't mechanical so the gave him the wrong one for that scene.
Yes. They shot the kid to cause a shock to his nervous system. Or something along those lines.
