Yeah third way came out around the time of clinton to deal with the fact that voters who voted democrat went for reagan. They looked to move over to what the voters where telling them by voting for reagan and reign in the left. This is basically how the democratic party works on the top level. They are a big tent trying to follow what most people are asking for. Unfortunately they look at election results only pretty much. I mean its a practical way to look at it but its part of the reason they have this rightward trend. Every time the left abandons them at an electtion they move further right. Democrats need to vote in teh primaries and be vocal locally. I know the primaries in my area were sorta a draw for progressivism vs the right influence. We had massive spending by pacs with progressive sound names that were funded by that bull trump israli one. Curiously many elections were competitive three way races. In many cases the most progressive did not win but the least also did not. What we ended up with is not bad but not the best it could be and mostly due to the spoiler effect of the pac. Honestly I feel these same forces push the don't vote or vote with your heart and not your head.
