A blacklist for words is such a lazy solution, lol.
I remember back in the old days of Westwood, their online games had a strict list of bannable words, and it was always fun to bait people into using them with seemingly innocent questions. "Hey, I'm doing a history report on WWII, does anyone know the name of the leader of the SS? Himm-something?"
Some poor schmuck: "You mean Himmler?"
User "Poor Schmuck" has been banned for 6 hours.
Even funnier when the devs or admins strolled by and offered a simple “lol” immediately after the ban. Very goofy times.
Everything related to the internet was so unserious and fun.
Now it’s all “please don’t swear think of the advertisers/shareholders/profits!”
And pissing off some random idiot teenager could mean having their 1.5 million Twitch followers weaponised against you.
my response would always be something like "be sure to touch some grass on your walk to the library to look that up."
Plenty of games have a little pop-up window that says "are you sure you want to exit?" when you press Alt+F4. That's a much more elegant solution than banning the phrase.
