Any time you pause it or rewind it or sneeze it throws the "EXO failed to play this video" error.

That's WHEN it decides to play sound.

I noticed they said they aren't worried about fixing it on github??

What is going on here?

I'm using a shield tv pro and it acts like this on my gaming PC too always freezing and making me force shut it down.

Did something happen with stremio lately?

Edit: anyone know of any viable alternatives that don't require learning hours of self hosting stuff like Jellyfin?

You are not wrong, but my understanding (and how i use mine) could also be wrong

Stremio is for streaming

Jellyfin is a self hosted media manager and relies on you having the files...if you dont have the files downloaded/stored its gonna give you nothing to display.

I set aside a day last year and set up a self host, once up and running its actually quite low maintenance. I use it for stuff i watch regular or that I want to keep (viewed and managed by JF). Also my shows because it just picks up new episodes in the background. Convenient.

For casual streaming when i dont know what i want to watch/check out a new show...its stremio.

You can do the same kind of live streaming with Jellyfin/Plex using Decypharr. It's more complicated to set up, though.

Isn't streamio just paying somone else to leech torrents for you and stream you the results? Just grab the show using sonarr or something and delete it if it's not to your liking.
