  1. Be respectful: no harassment, hate speech, bigotry, and/or trolling.
  2. Encourage conversation in your OP. This means including all information that can initiate conversations when you can and also engaging in your thread when possible.
  3. Avoid controversial topics (e.g. politics or societal debates).
  4. Stay calm: Don’t post angry or to vent or complain. We are a place where everyone can forget about their everyday or not so everyday worries for a moment. Venting, complaining, or posting from a place of anger or resentment doesn't fit the atmosphere we try to foster at all. Feel free to post those on !goodoffmychest@lemmy.world

I am looking into going back to school! Looking at getting an associate's in IT. I already have a bachelor's in psych but it, uh, hasn't worked out.

Was psych boring? I certainly love reading about it, but it is useless for me to go to school for it, because I don't want to work in that field. I haven't learned to keep my emotions separate from other people's emotions. If I were to pursue being a therapist, it would be hard to listen to people vent all day.

Psych is fascinating! But you can do precisely "jack" and "squat" with a bachelor's, and I don't have the temperament for academia so I'm not getting a higher degree, at least not in that field. So yeah, definitely don't go into psych unless you're prepared to get a master's, absolute minimum.
