Painting every homophobe as gay only serves to frame the issue as gay folk oppressing themselves. Straight homophobes have always been the core problem and it's not reasonable to push that responsibility back onto queer folks by baselessly speculating about people's sexualities.

I also suggest you take a close look at how much your conclusions about the frequency of this happening are based in confirmation bias. The human brain loves patterns and will see them even when they don't exist.
