Was it because of morality associated with a superhero? Batman specifically? Or was it just because normally people mind their own business and avoid looking around and qualifying one another until an unmissable weirdo is in their presence and they keep looking and only then notice the pregnant woman?

You're assuming the train goers know his secret identity.
I wouldn't want to be in a vulnerable position like being seated if Batman was about to get into a brawl with goons.
Need to repeat the experiment but with someone dressed as the joker.
