I tried it and just didn't vibe with it at all unfortunately. I felt like the pacing was ALL ANXIETY ALL THE TIME. Even the menus of the game have anxious music in the background that doesn't let me switch off the anxiety during downtime between runs.
I get that anxiety is kind of a feature of the tension in extraction shooters but at least in other games you have downtime.
You don't turn the music off in mp games?
No, it's part of the game.
ok but you're gonna get real tired of it after 5000 hours
I think the people that turn off music in games are the minority. It's part of the game, it creates the atmosphere, the ambience, the feeling.
That is one kind of experience. The tension and anticipation of waiting for a critical sound que on which the game hangs while your friends are going apeshit on discord is another no less valid one.
Devil Daggers is a game that's pure anxiety to me. I've been meaning to try the semi-sequel Hyper Demon, but I have a feeling that's going to be similar in that aspect.
It is definitely Anxiety: The VideoGame, the only times I'm not anxious playing it is when I'm playing the solo Rook with the silenced pistol that has the upgraded free kit because I have nothing to lose (especially because Rook matchmaking times are instant for when I die)
The only relaxing parts of the game was the PVE mode at the beginning of Season 2 and probably the new PVE Roguelike mode coming next week
