I'll start: printers.

I bought an HP in March 2020 when my job went remote and HP bricked it remotely after only 100 pages because I wouldn't sign up for their subscription program. Ended up trashing a perfectly good printer.

Luckily my library's close by and I can print there remotely.

I didn't know game consoles were requiring subs now. Wild.

I'm mostly a PC gamer, though I do have a Gen1 Switch.

They don't require subs. They have advantages if you get them but they don't require them. I have multiple game systems that I don't have subscriptions to and they all work just fine.

"Advantages" like being able to play a multiplayer game. Well where I'm from, the ability to play the multiplayer game is implied in the purchase of the multiplayer game.

I can play quite a few multi player games without a sub. I was playing pool blitz and destiny 2 just last night with no subscription.

I understand the autistic need to split hairs in an attempt to find the absolute truth, but in this case it has you defending some outrageously odious practices. You very well know that most games require the sub to play multiplayer, across all console systems.

So yes, you are correct. A few select games let you play multiplayer without the sub. Overall though, the vibe of the subscription is not "optional benefits", but rather what should be core functionality. Many many many more multiplayer games require it rather than not.

Dude. How many computer games also require a sub to play. Seriously this is an idiotic argument against console games.

A fraction of a single percentage. It's literally just some MMOs, not even most of them. Have you never had a PC?

You're taking a lot of offense at this. I love console games. I'm in no way arguing against them, but you're taking my very specific critique, as an affront to all console games. Which explains why you are so passionately lying about the current state of how their multiplayer is mostly paywalled.

I'm sorry if you have no choice but to deal with it. You shouldn't have to pay to play, or be resigned to find the good side in the fact that you are being left out by the paywall.

The first comment in the thread literally said basic online functionality one of the things a subscription is needed for for paid games only though IIRC.
