So my username on reddit was u/IAmUser1234567 I had 17k+ Karma, i didn't do anything they just banned my account. Now i guess they have created a digital fingerprint or marked my ip address, because if i create a new account it gets banned almost instantly.

I am loving lemmy(using Voyager on my android phone) so much. Reddit anyways now just contains shity cringe content, it is becoming like insta, I am happy to join lemmy family :)

That is standard now. All calls for violence are banworthy, zero exceptions.

Yeah, I've had two bans, a three-day and a seven-day, for "calls for violence." In my opinion, that term is very loosely applied. That being said, site wide permabans for first infractions aren't a thing.

OP saying "I didn't do anything" is bullshit too and doesn't help anyone. Just say what you did, it probably doesn't warrant the ban, but not being truthful about it is pointless.

Quite right, I got permabanned for something very innocuous after lots of three-day bans for quite strident support for targeted violence against the rich, ie Luigi type stuff.

I think the actual ban was from me pointing out that the people murdered on Bondi Beach were there at a religious event which, while attended by lots of perfectly innocent Jewish people for fine reasons, was organised and funded by a right-wing Zionist group that is quite controversial.

I also made sure to say that it did not excuse the actions of the two killers at all.

It would be like shooting up a Catholic church during the Christmas Mass.

The Roman Catholic Church is responsible for immeasurable pain and suffering throughout history and recently, but most of the people at mass are just there for Christmas stuff; they didn't run the church.

I appealed the ban, they upheld it, I came here.

Yeah, they kept calling the gifs I posted (below) calls for violence. Just tell me explicitly not to post weegee and we're cool. Don't bullshit it.

With an exception for Nazis. Fuck fascists.

I was not sure, but I do have the impression this is true. I hope spez follows his leader.

Oh wait, I misread your post. I was advocating for violence against nazis.

No, reddit actively promotes hateful content if anything. As long as it is advertiser friendly. They couldn't give a fuck about banning them.

[–] teslekova@sh.itjust.works 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Indeed. Unfortunately if you call for violence against Nazis you get banned. That was the first one I got, for suggesting punching as a solution!

High five. I got mine for saying "fuck all nazis and colonial apologia".
