It is NOT solidarity with the workers if I allow myself to be exploited by the employer in addition to them.

If a place is overpriced, I don't buy there. If there is an option to pay more voluntarily to express satisfaction, I regularly do so with an amount of tip that seems appropriate to me in that moment.

However, it is not my job to pay the workers or to champion their rights while I am on vacation; that is nonsense. Either their salary is included in the price of the product or not, that's definitely NOT my business to care for that because I don't run their business. I'm a customer and guest and I pay for all the service. But the price has to be quoted in advance, I don't accept hidden costs.

If you go to a restaurant that relies on tips, yes it is. You chose to go there, and that is how 8t works there. Just go to a place without tips that pays fair, problem solved.
