The growing danger of ultra-leftism, and the crossroads that our movements find themselves at

Welcome to Progressive Politics! A place for news updates and political discussion from a left perspective. Conservatives and centrists are welcome just try and keep it civil :)
(Sidebar still a work in progress post recommendations if you have them such as reading lists)
Before I even start reading the article: there's a pic of presumably protesters using self-made riot gear just like the police does. This makes sense. That the author thought that's the pic to support their main statement - that there is a "growing danger" from the left - already speaks volumes.
Now I will read to see if they properly juxtapose this to the definitely growing danger from the (mainly) USA's and Israel's fascist governments. Just to see how much exactly I disagree.
...
OK, I will give the author that much: they are writing from a POV of being on the left themselves. It reads like they're trying to emulate the writing style of Marxist-Leninists, and apply it to the current situation in the USA (even though they carefully avoid zeroing in on the US).
For some reason they stick to the argument of the "watershed moment of October 7". I think I know what they mean, but the whole article doesn't even mention Israel, just "imperialism" and "colonialism" and "global south" and some such.
It's tiresome to read, and I don't like it much. It could be an earnest effort of someone who shouldn't write, or it could be Internet Research Agency astroturf.
honestly more and more I realize nothing is off the table.
google rainer shea, the author of the article. your instincts were correct
