I remember reading about that Iranian F5 that's 50 fucking years old bombing a U.S. base in Kuwait and how they evaded radar detection and missile interception by flying so fast and low (in a plane almost as old as my dad) thinking "wow this is like if that last top gun movie was about something real that actually happened"

Also remembered reading about this guy who was Iran's best pilot during the Iran Iraq war. "If I had something more valuable than my life to give my people, I would give it" damn dude

Even funnier when you consider Top Gun: Maverick was about amerikkkan pilots taking out a uranium enrichment facility (that'll be used to make nukes any day now!) in some unnamed enemy country. The amerikkkans pulled it off in old outdated planes while the Iran/Russia/China hybrid were using cutting edge planes.

That movie is like from the Starship Troopers reality, it’s so far in the realm of fiction it’s becoming satire

the lockheed-martin product placement in that movie took me so far out of it

They couldn't do something like that here because they're trying to draw attention away from the fissile material that they failed to seize, and which this behind-enemy-lines S&R operation was likely a cover for.
