Seriously, how the fuck are they measuring this? I just went out with friend to a nice spot downtown and spent about $40 for dinner and 3 drinks
In Seattle land, that's 3 tap waters and two thirds of one entree
Hey, at least the water's good.
True, most water comes from mountain reservoirs.
Where I am, it is $5 for each refillable soda at Denny's, and a plate is about $18. Before considering things like a tip, or appetizers. At a chicken place, it is $0.80 for each piece of boneless chicken, or about $34 for 40 pieces. The pizza place, you can get a deal for roughly $44 to get a giant regular pizza, mozzarella sticks, and a 2 liter soda. (No delivery)
I suppose my neck of the woods isn't the most expensive, but it still ain't cheap IMO. The best option for warm and cheap food is probably the supermarket's fried chicken, which is about $28 for 24 pieces.
Yep. People in these comments seem to be talking about prices from 10-20 years ago.
Even cheap junk places are expensive now.
Frankly the best deals these days are the super expensive places, because they haven't gone up as much. I can get a fancy dinner for $150 by myself, and 5-10 years ago it was $100. A lot of the cheaper options have more than doubled in cost, including fast food, dive bars, and other.
I went to a steak house last fall, paid $100 for a really nice steak and two sides, and two whiskeys for about $20 each. 5-10 years ago it as like $80 for that steak and the whiskey was 16 bucks.
the last dinner date i took a lady on was at not nice place and it cost me $150 for a couple of dinners, an app, and three drinks.
Corporate chain restaurants like Denny's are 100% going to be more expensive and worse quality than anything local. I live in Austin, TX and have no issue at all finding amazing tacos for under $4 or sub sandwiches for under $8.
Where was that dinner date? $150 for two dinners, an appetizer, and drinks plus tax and tip at a fancy restaurant doesn't seem that bad to me.
Don't get me wrong, prices have absolutely gone up, my point though is there are lots of options for dates (where I live) that aren't going to cost you anywhere near $200
fancy restaurants will cost you $300+.
anything above a dive bar will cost you that much. i live here dozens of restaurants. everything is 15+ for an appetizer now. entrees and 25-30+
nobody is going to taco trucks at 8pm on a Friday night for a date. Here taco trucks are a lunch option and they charge you 8 dollars a taco.
