I'd rather make a benign Linux distro feel like a windows version I like, than papering over a hostile Win11.

Yeah at the time of windows 7 linux was still a bit limited so while I was not wild about microsoft I prefered it over linux but linux now a days is more the operating system I want than any version of windows ever was.
