Does he have the pedal controller for the accelerator and brake? Or just the steering wheel? If it is just the wheel he's a poser and it is a pretty big red flag.

Full setup. Accelerator/brake/Clutch, H-pattern gearstick and dedicated handbrake. Also, it's one of those force feedback steering wheels
Then it should be fine. I stand by what I said about the funko pops though.
