This has been featured around the Innernet recently, so why not here? Personally, my biggest skepticism is that I suspect it actually needs a mix of dark soy sauce and a much lighter sauce that floats on top?

I dunno though, maybe the 'trenches' are so deep that it works with simple soy sauce? Pretty dang clever, either way.

So it really just works with nothing but soy sauce..?

Yes. I'm not sure why this is hard to understand. The deeper areas are darker because they hold more sauce.

Sorry. Didn't realize I had to be a major genius. /s

Deeper areas are darker? Oh yeah, then explain why a flat swimming pool has dark patterns on the bottom! Checkmate, translucency believers. /s

A flat swimming pool wouldn't hold any water, you're thinking of a parking lot

[–] Munkisquisher@lemmy.nz 11 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Instructions unclear, parking lot is now full of soy sauce

How can you tell? Did a shrine or cat appear?

[–] orbituary@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 month ago

Redundant. All shrines are for cats.

New season of Bakemonogatari just dropped? WHY DOES NO-ONE TELL ME THESE THINGS!?

[–] Bloomcole@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

It would work with piss too

My personal skepticism is because I am now skeptical that any image that seems too good to be true is AI generated. And the sauce lines look almost artificially clean and complex with the shrine.

Like the shrine's reflection off of the lake, getting progressively lighter towards the bottom of the plate too? Impressive.

My personal response is because I'm responding that I responded a response.

Soy sauce would work like an ink. Here's a picture of watercolour inks, each column is one ink, with each row representing how much ink is soaked in.

Can you recommend which is tastiest?

Unburnt kikkoman

Yeap, as someone who's done his share of watercolor art, I do grasp the concept. Any doubts I had were related to a level of skepticism about the depths of the trenches.
