For Warframe, the main thing you'll start to feel as a limitation as an F2P is the slots for frames and weapons, which cost premium currency (platinum) and are otherwise pretty limited. I'd definitely recommend spending your free starting plat on slots. The good news is that you can trade certain items in game to other players for platinum. The bad news is that the most profitable things to trade are generally not available to new players.
Thanks for the tip! Right now it feels like I don't have enough this or that to really buy a lot, but on the flip side, I'm not having a hard time at all actually beating levels and whatnot. I'd like to get a cooler sword, but meh, I'm sure I'll get one at some point.
