It’s unfortunate that tofu and beyond beef and other plant-based proteins marketed themselves as meat replacements.
Beyond beef, for instance, tastes absolutely nothing like beef… but it still slaps. If you go in expecting a 1:1 meat replacement (which most brain dead carnivores are, unfortunately) you’re gonna be disappointed. If you go in thinking “wow this is a new ingredient that will open up a whole new realm of flavor and texture in my cooking” then you’re in good shape.
Of course, you have to actually cook your own food to begin with if this is going to work, which… I’m realizing fewer and fewer people cook, and even fewer know how to cook, and fewer still know how to cook and actually enjoy cooking.
That's my biggest problem in trying to go vegan these days - I'm lazy. I cook maybe once or twice a month, beyond ramen noodles or sticking a frozen pizza in the oven. Vegan-oriented restaurants tend to be overpriced, small-serving-size health-food garbage, and vegan options at my go-tos (pizza places, Burger joints, Taco stands) are bland-tasting afterthoughts.
I don't want quinoa, kale and tofu. I want a baked potato slathered in margarine, I want greasy roasted carrots and onions cooked in vegetable oil and coated in salt and spices. I want big starchy portion sizes and I want them at half the price of a meal with real protein. And I fucking hate beans.
I disagree and it actually does but it has off tastes too it that imo are probably the pomegranate extract or something idk
