I am pretty sure that similar situation exists in some Lemmy.ml communities as well.
Definitely. It exists in nearly any western online space to some degree because nearly every western online space is infested with liberals and their belief that they're being brave and righteous for vehemently reinforcing the lies of the fascist predominant narrative. They get all the benefits of being part of the clapping seal brigade while also getting to feel smug that they are smarter for understanding "both sides" horseshoe Orwell holodomor gorillion animal farm. It is so tiring, so cliched, so pathetic.
And in places like reddit, if there's ever the slightest push in a leftwards direction (like say if that one user hadn't gotten hundreds of downvotes but maybe a couple upvotes and only 10 or 15 down, or worse, if a person or two chimed in agreeing with them) then it gets squelched by the bots, and in major subs actual feds, with the evil authoritarian commies getting IP banned. That's a lot harder to do on Lemmy, so they created piefed.
Lemmy.ml is one big reddit moment
