Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.

The ones who didn't vote for the only option other than Trump are equally bad people as Republicans, though I assume most of them just got hit with a propaganda brick, which brings us to the ineligible: among those who first became eligible in 2024 we saw the biggest shift rightward in decades among youth thanks to TikTok, Twitter, Google, etc intentionally radicalizing them.
Not voting was still a vote in and of itself. I hold them responsible too.

It is not half of Americans. It is at least 66% of them. A third of all Americans voted for Trump. Another third sat out and consciously chose not to vote. Then a third voted against him.
The majority of Americans approve of the governance and current state of the US.
I do not see how you equate not voting with Trump support when you're literally on the "Kamala wasn't left enough for me" website. And I'm speaking as someone who does think those people are fucking stupid and that they're about as or maybe even less likely to start a revolution than people who did vote.
I'm not who you replied to but I have a similar view.
For me, it's not "you didn't vote, so you support Trump", it's "you didn't vote, which says you were fine with any of the available candidates, how they presented themselves, and their plans for this nation. You were fine with any of them being President." Anybody who was fine with Trump being President gets criticism from me.
Hell, I give more credit to somebody who put a write-in vote for "my cat: Sir Fluffykins, esq. III" because at least that person would make their voice heard that no candidate was acceptable.
This is an open source forum similar to Reddit. It is not a dedicated site for American non-voters. It is very American to assume it is solely for them though. High off of your own farts, the lot of you.

Why shouldn't conservatives claim that we, liberals, are dehumanizing ourselves by supporting trans rights for example? Why?
Because one of them wants to eliminate a class of people. The other just doesn’t want to be around the people who want to eliminate a class of people. They just want to be left to their devices.

I'm not saying that you shouldn't protect trans rights or anything like that. I'm just saying that dehumanizing around 30% of the country is a bad idea and is completely counterproductive.
As another reply said, they're dehumanizing themselves. Disagreeing on policy is one thing, but when one side is burning books and closing research labs and treating a charlatan's blatant lies as the Gospel truth because their worldview is fundamentally incompatible with factual reality, there's no reasoning with that. Debate doesn't fucking work at that point; you need a cult deprogramming!
You are meeting their hateful delusions by sinking to their level.
90% of them arent even thinking about the actions they're taking with any real depth. Treating the quiet ones the same as the loud ones allows them to sink further and further into their delusions, because honestly they just dont know any better. Yelling in their face about how they're nothing but inhuman monsters isnt going to change their minds. And considering their dominance, if you don't change their minds these problems will continue.
The solution to division isnt more division.
They do.
But it's not a Republican vs Democrat thing. It's empathy vs not. As a social species, I don't think it's a stretch to say that those without empathy are fundamentally broken and need fixing. You can't have a functioning society with no empathy. And we benefit from a functioning society.
But there is a fix. Empathy can be learned. It's not magic, it's practice. And those who refuse to learn shouldn't be welcome in society.
Fuck it. I'm no longer responding to this thread. If you can't understand that dehumanizing them and attacking their ideals is bad (politically bad) I don't have anything else to say.
We need to reason with them, not fight. Everyone believes what they're doing is good, if you attack that, you're the bad one and they won't listen to you anymore.
You can't reason with someone who wants you dead. Simple as that.
Your logic results in deranged people killing and abusing non deranged people "who just want to reason".
You cannot reason with zealots who want you dead. This is a suicidal mindset that you have. Why not just give up and let the bad guys win?
You are kind of proving their point here. You are trying to reason with them, but in your mind they are not being reasonable, so you are disengaging because you don't see how further engagement can be useful. Instead, you just call them the bad one.
This is exactly the process you are arguing against. People are not being reasonable, so you can't expect reason to be convincing.
You just think I'm the other guy. I didn't say dehumanize. I said they're not suitable for society and need to be fixed.
They're still human. They're just douchebags. And we don't have to tolerate those.
I am not part of the discussion but you answered to a completely civil argument. People not agreeing with you is not a bad thing. If you think you are right, make counter points. Otherwise try to guess why their views differ and over think your own opinion. It is a good thing to get convinced by somebody else's opinion, both win in that case.
i just want to comment that what you say is sane from a political point of view. don't listen to the knee-jerk reaction here, it's "monkey sees enemy, monkey clicks button" type of stuff.
just to give some examples, the big historical movements like religion in the medieval ages were successful largely because they managed to unify all people in society somehow. by providing common grounds. and that's the same ideals of humanity, of democracy, that people claim to defend on here.
we can't protect democracy by taking away the humanity, by not considering the other one human anymore. because at that point, democracy is already dead.
Because factual reality exists.
