If only you could... you know... use it to pay for stuff? In stores? Wild concept, I know.

I would love to accept it in my store, but my terminal provider just said they wouldn't implement it.

Your comment just made me look it up again and with payone there now seems to be a German provider that supports it. Guess I consider changing to them at the end of my current contract, they cost about the same as my current one.

Even better, tell the existing one that you plan to change for that reason.

I mean, I'm mostly meme'ing, I will never touch it. I think it's hilarious that they do all that marketing and it's simply not functional yet.

I do sincerely wish you good luck and that it works for you though.

Yea true.

Personally, my biggest issue with it is that it's tying one bank account and one phone number (at least with my bank, I've heard that other banks tie it to email addresses).
I have multiple bank accounts (one for each business plus personal ones), but only one mobile phone number. So I can only get and send wero payments with just one bank account. I cannot get/send business and personal payments simultaneously, and even if I activated it for one business, it still wouldn't work for the other.
I could only get more phone numbers, but they cost monthly, and I'm not willing to do that just for a niche payment service.

I'm still feeling positive that they even work on alternatives. But you're absolutely right, it isn't really functional right now and money should be put into development rather than marketing/user growth for now.

tying it to phone number is no biggie, look at UPI, they’ve been doing it since inception

Well when a phone number can only be used for one bank account, but someone has more bank accounts than phone numbers (which is the case for a lot of people) then it is an issue because they can't use wero with all accounts.

[–] androidul@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

afaik when you select pay with wero, you are asked to select a bank account

There are some stores that already support it. Give it a year or two and adoption will be more widespread.

There is some momentum right now for sure. But the tracker is tracking what? Some selection of shops? Common two digit numbers of shops? Over all Europe.? Are they kidding.

But still a nice project
