Can you all afford to eat out still? It's gotten exponentially more expensive here in the US since 30 years back.
Also, tacos? How cosmopolitan. In living memory such fare would've been unheard of, both there and there. The BBC once ran a joke piece showing Italians harvesting pasta off the pasta tree and most people accepted it until they told them. Back in the 50s tacos were unheard of in the north at least.
It has definitely gotten more expensive in the last 20 years. Döner used to be 3-4€, now it's 7-10. Maybe more in some places. Afaik that's a little above inflation, but it's not crazy. And eating out in general has always been an expensive thing to do. From what I see online US prices are a lot worse, but I don't know how they were 20 years ago.
