Windows has supported Xbox controllers for many years now, and even decades ago I was playing games off a floppy disk using a gamepad.
The optimizations were worthless because Windows is the problem and focusing on gaming won't solve the underlying issues with the OS or the high-level issues with its direction.
They meant controller interface as in User Interface
