I'm going to keep voting all democrat basically no matter what, because there is no other option. But are those of us with money actually shooting ourselves in the foot?

By this I mean, we are basically voting for the government to tax us even more (at least this is what people in america believe). If you look at states like Minnesota, they have way higher taxes than red states. Blue states have more car inspection and taxes as well (which I personally hate and it just makes life harder). It also costs wayyy more to live in blue states, a big reason people in red states keep voting red to keep costs down. We don't want $4000 per month rent here.

I guess it seems dumb to be voting for myself to get taxed more is all I'm saying. Obviously, thats not a big deal compared to voting for all out authoritarian fascism, but its hard to convince people to vote for higher taxes and more regulation thats going to make my life harder.

And yes I know there is more to it than that, but the average person I know votes on 1. Do they support abortion and 2. Will I get taxed more. I know those of you in any civilized areas will find it hard to believe, but this is what fox news does to peoples brains.

I rather like having funded schools, libraries, cultural centers, and mundane things like roads that won't destroy my car driving over holes. It seems like a damn fine idea to provide safety nets for those with less, hell at one point I was one of those who had to decide if I got gas or milk that week. The mentality of minimal taxes basically can be summed up as 'fuck you, I got mine' which is a mighty crass way to look at things.
