Cali has 1 primary, and the top two candidates make it to the general...

Some early polling of the race has put both Bianco and Hilton among the candidates splitting the most support in a state that hasn't elected a Republican governor in 20 years.

“The likelihood of two Republicans effectively ‘locking out’ California Democrats from the contest for Governor in the General Election is relatively low,” Hicks wrote. “However, while it is implausible, it is not impossible and I know we are collectively committed to taking the steps required to avoid that possibility.”

Right now the top two candidates have an R by their name, which would depress general turnout when it matters and cost House seats we desperately need

But you'd have to read more than a headline to actually see that part...

helpful context: op principledfully and scientifically abstained from voting in the 2024 election, thus saving palestine. always check who's talking it's the same three fucking dipshits

[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Boo hoo, the one person who voted in California massively changed all their saying states she ignored. That's how it worked.

[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

Ah, autocorrect on my phone. Corrected.

[–] I_Jedi@lemmy.today -2 points 1 month ago

And I voted third party! Don't forget that piece of important context.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -5 points 1 month ago (4 children)

I voted in 2024 for everything but POTUS because I don't support genocide.

[–] monkeyjoe@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

Silly you, your vote in California somehow also made Harris lose every other state. Don't ask them how the math or logic works, just vote blue no matter who and don't ask questions.

[–] corsicanguppy@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 month ago

Ya choose better or you get worse.

Evolution takes a few iterations, but you have to put in the one day of work every 4 years without getting bored of it.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

Same here, I left it blank in the general and filled out the rest of the ballot. I also dont support genocides regardless of the consequences. Theres actually lots of us, you aren't alone. The party ignores us at their own peril and I'm not about to change because they want me to. And anyone who doesnt like it can kiss my arse. Cheers to you, man.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 1 points 1 month ago (3 children)

So you're easily manipulated. Good job.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Thats a person who stood up for their principles while you abandoned yours. You're the manipulated one here. And we both lost so I dont see that it matters much who you feel like you need to blame. I respect my dog's barking more than I respect anything you say, and my dog is an idiot. Just be aware that the same voting outcome will happen again if t needs to. And 20% of the voters are progressive. So maybe dont try to run a campaign on genocide support from the 'lefty' party again and things will turn out better. Or, you can choose to continue to lose. Centrists are in charge of the party machine, right-- so you go ahead and choose while I sit over here sipping my coffee and talking to Dems who arent sellouts and war criminals.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club -1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Oh shut up. Soapboxing your pro trump stance is so 2021

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Calling anyone who didnt vote for Harris or support her platform a trump supporter is such a classic centrist move. Besides being utter devoid of any ethics around your own stance on genocide, you're also brazenly dishonest about everyone else as well. You'd fit right in on the far right yourself.

Thats why people call you blue maga.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 0 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Good luck in life being easily manipulated

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

And good luck to you licking and sucking everything put in front of you that you're told to. You have negotiated everything away -- with nothing at all in repayment--and you will obviously continue to do so.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -4 points 1 month ago (4 children)

Thousands of dead children and families is manipulation? Wow.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club 4 points 1 month ago (2 children)

Idc how you spin it. Your were manipulated

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Anyone supporting a party thats lost 2 elections to a carnival barker when they had every possible advantage in their favor needs to shut the fuck up and sit down. They are in no position to lecture anyone about their choices.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club -4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Yeah, because there wasn't a coordinated effort to trash his opponents and promote trump online. Yeah, riiiiiight. Like elon musk, didn't interfer and buy a social media company to shit out propaganda and manipulate people. Yaaaaa. Riiiiiight.

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago) (1 children)

Musk didn't force Biden's hand to fund and provide weapons for a genocide, no amount of social media influence would have changed the fact that Democrats chose to bury their head in the sand regarding Biden's mental decline, dismissing it as a stutter. There was no amount of influence that forced the DNC to coalesce around Biden and manufacture your vote for Biden in the 2020 election. Your choice to support a mentally deficient right-wing warhawk was manufactured for you. It's you that was manipulated

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club -3 points 1 month ago

So you said meh, trump is fine. Lol yeah right.

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world -2 points 1 month ago (1 children)

That's how democracy and voting works. You can vote or not vote. A vote is earned not given away freely.

[–] Stormy@thelemmy.club -5 points 1 month ago (1 children)
[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ not sure what there's to believe

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 month ago (1 children)

If genocide isnt their red line they are no different than the MAGA they claim to hate. BlueMAGA's true hatred of republicans is they see them as a projection of themselves

[–] return2ozma@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago
[–] Arcadeep@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

You're right, thank you for standing by and doing nothing. You really helped avoid the worst possible situation!

Idiot

[–] ClassStruggle@lemmy.ml -4 points 1 month ago

Says the people that fall in line and do what you are told every election, no balls to do whats right. If you voted democrat you voted for our current situation

[–] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago

I will note that we are generally still far enough out that Republicans will have a polling advantage. Which is probably why the top 2 are Rs, theyve been having this weird early surge then slow collapse for their candidates and policy for awhile now within the state. My best guess as to why is because they've basically burned down to the most core element within the state and have every incentive to respond to polling so as to try and influence the narrative.

I'd hold off on putting pressure on smaller candidates for at least a month but I also get being worried.
