Here that gadget is pretty expensive IMO. It's not really a car with only 45 km/h top speed it can only drive in the city, and 75 km range is as meager as it gets. It's unsuited for any kind of high speed road, it has absolutely zero in equipment beyond the absolutely most basic. It's little more than a double bicycle on 4 wheels, and can only take 2 people including driver.
Here the cheap version which is even without doors is 99.900,- DKK = 13.300,- EUR or $16.500,- USD
For just 20% extra you can get a real car, a small car but a real car.
Is that real 12 000 DK car electric, though?
No the cheapest electric are not available PT for some reason?
The cheapest currently is the Citroen C3 electric at 140.000,- DKK.
But then you get 3 times the range, a proper 4 seater, proper engine of 113 HP. and with 135 km/h the capability to actually drive the allowed speed on out highest speed roads. And it can charge at 11 kWh on a homecharger or 100 kWh on a fast charger.
And it actually has proper doors! And proper heater, and way way better safety.
The BYD Dolphin Surf is the same price, and has a top speed of 150 km/h.
There is simply no comparison between the real cars and the Fiat Topolino or Ami 1 they are nothing more than a moped that requires a drivers license here. I think the only difference from one that doesn't require a license is that they are very slightly wider. I must admit I'm surprised these can even be legally registered as cars? They lack several safety features that are mandatory for cars.
At half the price they would be cool, they are probably fun to drive, if the weather isn't bad.
99 000 vs 140 000 is quite the difference. And this isn't even the cheapest microcar, not even the cheapest 4-wheeled microcar (e.g. Opel Rocks-E starts at 8400€ in Germany).
In Germany, even a Fiat Topolino can be driven with a moped license.
The Citroen C3 electric and the BYD Dolphin are the cheapest electric I could find here in Denmark. But unfortunately we don't have good charts for that for some reason, so there may exist cheaper options.
But the Fiat 500 is nolonger available, the same with Dacia that also made a cheap EV, and Seat made the MII I think it was called, which is also nolonger available.
The Opel you refer to is also Stelantis, the exact same concept as both Ami and Toppolino. The difference may be that Opel is traditionally a German made brand.
Kind of like Vauxhall are cheaper in UK than the same car under the Opel Brand.
If these were availbale here for 8400€ it would be a completely different story, and there is little reason why they should be more expensive here, AFAIK there is no tax apart from sales tax on these small "microcars" or even a small normal car when it's an EV.
The price is definitely a bit high.
I bought a lightly (13.5k miles, 21.7k km) used Chevy Bolt with a brand new battery for like $1000 less than that. I get ~100 to ~200 miles of range, depending on how cold it is. It's not the biggest fan of -10°F (-23°C), but it still gets around 100 miles of range even in that extreme low temperature.

Yes they do, if you want to save money buy it used.
Battery technology is still evolving fast, and the competition is cutthroat ATM (except in USA).
I expect EV prices to keep to decline for at least the next 2 years. And we will get more durable safer cheaper solid state batteries beginning next year.
But for now I'm sporting a cool VW ID.4, which is an absolute luxury car compared to anything I've ever had before. It's amazingly smooth and quiet to drive, it can take tight curbs like compact, and although it's not a powerhouse by today's standards, it feels plenty responsive compared to an normal ICE car.
I bought it 4 years old for less than half price, and it is as good as new!
I highly recommend it.
Around me, 4 year old EVs are teenager cars. You can get a good one for $6000 or less, just o/n charge at 120V.
I don’t know about Denmark, but here in Italy it’s in the same category of vehicles you can start driving at 16 (AM license), so equivalent to a small motorbike and not a real car.

Very well done. Knowing when to say min or mit is very difficult, it's something you only learn to hear with training. 👍😀. But fortunately it rarely ruin the meaning. It just sounds kind of cute.

They're called microcars. They're not intended for highway use.
I know, but they shouldn't be called cars at all, and considering you can get a real car for almost the same price, I wouldn't call it low cost. That is a real car for 4 people that can drive on high speed roads and have way better range. But are still compact and nimble for parking in the city.
The price of this thing is ridiculous, at least here it is.
Aside from Boomers who live in Florida's The Villages, who would buy this in the US? Also, $16500 for a car with no safety standards?

The crazy part is that you can buy a similar Chinese microcar in europe for half the price.
Taxes on ICE cars prevent that here. But I'm not surprised.
In the EU this is classified as a motorcycle and not a car though.
Nope, it's a car here in Denmark and requires a drivers license same as a car. We have slightly smaller versions that can be used with a moped license. Of which we have 2 categories that do not count for motorbikes. Moped 30 km/h and moped 45 km/h and the motorcycle.
To drive this in EU without a drivers license for a car is only a regional option. So this too is taxed like a car here, but being electric it only has sales tax. As electric vehicles below 40k € are tax exempt.
