Totally guessing here, but I think this comes from wanting to be fair and open about content.
Everyone always complains about censorship, eco chambers, and freedom of speech. So I could see someone being very tolerant and allowing lots of content on their server.
Users also harass moderators and post about them on yepowertrippinmods, so allowing shit probably saves them some harassment.
It seems to take a specific type of person to be able to run a server. They can't be too nice. They have to have a clear line in the sand.
I sometimes (maybe more than sometimes) 2nd guess myself. "Am I being too sensitive?" "Did they really mean it like that?" "Was I too harsh?"
Yeah I agree with you. I do think the only kind of instance administrators that don't eventually burn out are the kind with an absolute rock solid understanding of what it is they're trying to create and what kind of people they're trying to attract.
