Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

For (likely) sleeping with very young girls.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 4 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago) (3 children)

Can you show me proof of that? Mila Antanova was in early 20s, not below 20 I forgot the age of that nuclear physicist, but there is zero proof of him sleeping with minors.

Besides, I recently got heavily downvoted on Lemmy for saying that tall grown men look weird when dating women that I cannot tell if they're over 18, but my opinion on the matter aside, objectively he did not really break any laws, besides marriage.

[–] 0x0@infosec.pub 2 points 6 hours ago

I'm pretty sure that dosing someone unknowing with medicine is a crime, daterapedrug or not really doesn't matter.

[–] Cantaloupe@lemmy.fedioasis.cc 5 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

but there is zero proof of him sleeping with minors.

Not yet...

Forgive me for jumping to a conclusion like this, but lots of the proof still remains buried, obscured, and redacted, and any guy who willingly associates with Epstein for an "affair" is automatically a suspect in my eyes.

[–] NoFun4You@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago (2 children)

I think its perfectly plausible for bill gates to be a decent human being while also participating in sex with Russian womens. And until proof says otherwise, like all persons, we shouldn't be making up stories.

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 2 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

if he was a decent human being he'd drop 90% of his wealth out of a helicopter and wouldn't be asking a notorious sex trafficking criminal for advice on ways to surreptitiously slip his wife drugs for an STI he got having sex with other people.

just to set aside for a moment the possibility that the people he had sex with were coerced or children

[–] NoFun4You@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I don't think asking people to dump all of their money is the line that differentiates people from being good people and bad people. It's like good people do bad things sometimes doesn't mean we shouldn't forgive or understand. Obviously the shit with his wife is not very good, but as it stands hasn't he done some good? Either way probably best to judge on what we know and not the speculation as that would just lead to diluting the real story for the speculative lol

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 1 points 4 hours ago

asking billionaires, not people in general. if you made a million dollars a year it woud take you more than a thousand years to become a billionaire once you factor in living expenses. you can't be a good person and hoard that much wealth

[–] Cantaloupe@lemmy.fedioasis.cc 1 points 6 hours ago

Though it is speculation, I think he is most likely guilty. We gotta wait and see.

[–] maplesaga@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Ohh, so he was one of the innocent people who just happened to be friends with Epstein. Here I am assuming a guy running a pedophile island wouldnt just have normal friends like Bill Gates, where they played bridge and discussed things like pharmaceuticals, on his down days of trafficking women.

[–] sturmblast@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

Jumping to conclusions isn't wise

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 1 points 9 hours ago* (last edited 9 hours ago)

EDIT: I goofed and thought the person above answered to me

[–] pimpampoom@lemmy.zip 2 points 10 hours ago

The more we advance in this whole mess the more he is confessing. It’s not long before we learn he abused kids. Put him in prison

[–] Tedesche@lemmy.world 5 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

I think the assumption is that they were underage, trafficked women.

[–] bitjunkie@lemmy.world 16 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Stop calling them "underage women". Adopting the apologist language used by the news media is what the pedo cult wants.

The correct term is children

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub -3 points 14 hours ago (3 children)

Assumptions can be dangerous and make you look like an idiot. There has been zero proof that Gates was involved with minors and I'm not going to go that far until there is at least something pointing to it besides the fact that he met with Eipstein.

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 1 points 6 hours ago

There has been zero proof that Gates was involved with minors

I believe Trump's made similar claims. Good thing the files are full of redactions.

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 6 points 14 hours ago (2 children)

Epstein was more than a child trafficker. He dealt in information, blackmail material and financial... "services", as I understand it. Having been had contact with him isn't immediate proof of any specific crime, because his portfolio is so wide, and also because I imagine a snake like him will have slithered into many places the high and wealthy congregate.

The question then is the extent and nature of the connections. On one hand, I'm all for being cautious about assuming guilt.

On the other, this is a billionaire we're talking about. I find myself less charitable with good will when it comes to parasites of that caliber.

[–] daychilde@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

contact with him isn’t immediate proof of any specific crime

And this is why we have courts and rule of law and not mob rule. The mob clearly is ready to hang him. And if he is guilty, he should.

But at the moment, there is no clear proof that I'm aware of.

So it'd be fucking nice if people would take a damn step back and concentrate on supporting the rule of law and getting this evidence into courts so that we can have the best possible chance of convicting and punishing the guilty.

Because let's be clear: I support punishment for all who are guilty.

But mob rule is what the fascists want and thrive on. Trump says "X is guilty" and the fucking cult goes nuts and presses for their death.

Can our side NOT be like that? Please?

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 1 points 11 minutes ago

My only misgivings with the court of law are that they're slow (a necessary byproduct of diligence) and that the law they're adjudicating is biased (really more of an issue with the legislation). There is also the problem of corrupt or biased judges, but corruption is a universal concern.

They're still more reliable than a lynching based on suspicion and emotion.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub 4 points 9 hours ago

Exactly. Blackmail.

I suggest you actually do some deeper reading into this whole mess. I got too bored and the image completely changed for me. It's way deeper and and Occam's razor is not going to work here. Eipstein really did a lot of blackmailing, it was already proven that some emails were straight up fabricated.

That aside - it is now known who the two women were, and Bill did not met them thru Eipstein, neither were they underage. The whole Eipstein mess actually came after these two women.

[–] Tedesche@lemmy.world -1 points 14 hours ago

I agree. Just clarifying why I think people are calling for him to go to prison.

It's normal if it's gross for you, these things come with time; once you get puberty you'll start to understand

[–] Cantaloupe@lemmy.fedioasis.cc 2 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

You know that is not what the user meant.

[–] REDACTED@infosec.pub -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

That is literally why my comment is a joke, I did not argue the comment, I joked about it.

To elaborate: I do not get insulted about things I'm sure they're wrong about (about me), it just makes me laugh

[–] Cantaloupe@lemmy.fedioasis.cc 3 points 6 hours ago

Responding with "once you get puberty you’ll start to understand" to someone who thinks you are defending a pedophile probably ain't the wisest move though. A joke, maybe but don't expect that shit to land well at all.
