Eating a wierd fish is literally the same as alleged culturally enforced misogyny

if Middle Eastern states raised their standards of treating women

Western countries should improve their treatment of Middle Eastern women first:

i need everybody to stop using analogies.

[–] Grapho@lemmy.ml 26 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Liberals can only view the world through abstractions even if they're talking about the simplest, least demanding scenario ever, because then they can substitute a contrived scenario for whatever dumb shit they want to believe

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 23 points 1 day ago

yeah but you can just be like "the acute risks of fugu aren't worth the calories and japanese culture and cuisine aren't hanging by the thread of fugu" if that's your take instead of whatever the fuck that redditism was.

Just imagine the analogy is like a shoe, and we're like Shinola

[–] Le_Wokisme@hexbear.net 10 points 1 day ago

i can't believe you would make that comparison

People complaining about pufferfish probably could not identify safe mushrooms to eat without someone else doing it for them.

If part of a destroying angel was safe to eat if very carefully prepared by an extremely trained specialist chef and so was a prestigious "delicacy" specifically because it was inaccessible without the services of such an expensive expert, that would also not be a good thing. Elite prestige dishes that get their draw from being elite, inaccessible, expensive, and prestigious are bad.

I can make an exception for the dishes that have like a 1 in 50 chance of killing the rich bozo who eats it though.

To be fair most of them probably wouldn't eat any of the safe mushrooms either

"Multiculturalism" meets its inevitable fate in the linguistic woodchipper and becomes a denigrating term for anyone who believes in the concept of having any culture.
