I don't need an origin story for the Scooby Gang. The very first episode should begin with a scary ghost or unexplainable phenomenon, and then the Mystery Machine rolls up with Fred saying "Let's stop here for the night." No explanation, no character building, no trauma-laced exposition about how Shaggy got his nickname or the genesis of "jinkies", none of that. Just the gang and a ralking ranine, showing up at a scene of unspeakable horror to unravel the conspiracy and unmask the monster.

also please don't let the ghosts/monsters be actual ghosts/monsters.

I want it to be like a reverse X-Files. Like all this weird shit keeps happening, and everyone takes it very seriously, except for Velma, Fred, and Daphne. They know it's probably a ruse and they prove it with thorough investigation and clever deduction.

I also don't need 1/3 of the episode being flashbacks explaining a characters backstory instead of advancing a plot.

That's lazy writing. All things should be well written, and flashbacks are a way to trick the audience by withholding or inventing context.
