Welcome to the discussion of US Politics!

Rules:

  1. Post only links to articles, Title must fairly describe link contents. If your title differs from the site’s, it should only be to add context or be more descriptive. Do not post entire articles in the body or in the comments.

Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
  3. No memes, trolling, or low-effort comments. Reposts, misinformation, off-topic, trolling, or offensive. Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
  4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
  5. No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in a ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be banned without warning

We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

If you have one coming, it's important to set up a local rapid response network. That means:

  • A hotline for locals to call (and distributing the number)
  • Town or neighborhood level signal chats to alert people about what is happening
  • Whistle distribution so that it's possible to rapidly alert immediate neighbors
  • Starting regular patrols to spot ICE before they kidnap anybody

EDITED TO ADD: Be aware that there is open and proven mass manipulation of votes taking place in this thread, and that the call to violence above to which I am responding is a part of that orchestrated effort to manipulate via manufactured approval/disapproval. Just so you know. Screenshots follow further on down the line.

I'm not angry at your message, I'm angry at your willful ignorance.

Protesting is the first step, not the last. It's how you meet your community and find out how, contrary to the lying media and firehose of propaganda, you are NOT alone, and all the different ways others are making their own difference the same way you want to. It's how you personally begin to recognize where real power lies, and think about how you personally can add to that unified voice.

That alone is HUGE. You clearly don't remember Friday, January 30 here in the US. It is when people simultaneously started walking out in all 50 states to protest this regime's hold on power. It was so frightening to them they released the latest tranche of the Epstein files because they were losing the perception game, had been for days, and that was the only thing they had left to drown out the voice of millions of pissed off Americans all wanting the same thing.

But all that unity and reclaiming of individual power started last summer with No Kings.

And the National Guard is OUT of LA and Portland and Chicago because of court orders calling their presence there illegal BECAUSE the violence the National Guard were called to quell did not exist in reality.

Right this minute, as I type this, we do NOT have martial law in the US because of the savvy and wisdom of LA and Chicago and especially Minneapolis, who learned after George Floyd and aren't giving in to the provocation game: instead of more ICE they have less, and the world's sympathetic attention to boot.

THAT is what got us all off our asses on January 30. NOT violence, but the active resistance of provocation thereto.

But hey, you know best. Go ahead and school us on all the successful violent protests in the US in the last fifty years, which will begin with you ignoring everything I just wrote and insisting the opposite is true while pulling fact-free arguments out of your ass to bolster your spurious position, and then I link the court orders and you ignore those too, and then you call me names and I ignore those too . . .

Or you could just back the fuck up and STOP trying to incite violence just because you wanna see Americans fight each other for your own entertainment, which is what this all comes down to because the number of successful VIOLENT protests in the US in the last fifty years is precisely zero.

I’m gonna stop at “first step” and stop reading.

WE ARE PAST STEP ONE.

At this rate, we should expect within the year:

Martial law or some kind of federal control over local government and law enforcement.

Total control over voting, via manipulated USPS date stamping (already in progress), ICE at the voting booths, and all the usual gerrymandering. (And all the other stuff Trump is casually saying but is totally serious about)

No “blue wave” midterm like most of you fools think.

This is all GOING TO HAPPEN. It’s not a maybe anymore.

Fucking wake up.

As I expected, you completely ignored everything we've already won to focus on speculative doomering horseshit. But I do have a couple questions.

most of you fools

If you could define that? Thanks.

And if everything you said is the certain outcome you claim it will be, then there will be no shortage of opportunity to fight, no?

[–] Wakmrow@lemmy.world -3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

How's the peaceful protest working out lol.

It's working out great, even better than I expected. Did you think a syphilitic old fuck and his grifting family and friends would just roll over and give up? Do you think they're eager to go to jail?

You have an interesting account history.

User is 100% an astroturfer. They're out in force, many of them with less noticeable histories because AI is good at writing these bots nowadays, but yeah, the most effective way of sabotaging democracy is to amplify and escalate the worst takes on both sides of every debate until everyone reading or watching is too burned out or confused to stay connected.

Thank you for calling it out when you see it.

What's interesting about it

How is it working out great

[–] stylusmobilus@aussie.zone 1 points 5 days ago

It’s the only option they have.

Yes, the sooner they do it, the easier and less painful it will be. Yes, they failed to take the easier path and didn’t learn the lesson from Trumps last run.

All that, but the beast is starting to wake. As things get worse, they’ll react in kind.

I’m frustrated with them too, I was one of those warning them about not voting years ago but encouraging them to openly fight the oppressor isn’t going to work.
