I heard Reza Pahlavi is wildly popular in Iran right now and Iranian locals are enthusiastic about seeing the Shah returned to power. Is this true?

this is very joyful that you ask about this. I was at the protests when people were using these slogans.

مرگ بر خامنه ای

translate : death to khamenei

مرگ بر دیکتاتور

translate : death to dictator

این اخرین نبره پهلوی بر میگرده

trans : this is the last war pahlavi gonna come back

جاوید شاه

eternal shah

دل های ما خونی اع خامنه ای کونی ع

our heart is bleeding , khamenei is p*ssy(honestly it's not mean that but please tack it form me)

so i think persian guys like reza. and it so popular in iran(I also really like he). how many of iranian people does not like reza somthing like 1/15 . people jock about it : like bro when reza gonna come back? it's tack so long.

I've seen street interviews showing the opposite. Link to a video on Reddit

There's monarchists who do in fact support him, but they're not the majority by any means.

From what I have read Iran doesn't seem like a very good place to be these days. A lot of violence is shown, especially against women and girls. Religious extremism also looks quite scary to me. My question is how do you feel about your country and how is it different from the way it's being represented in the media? (Assuming you track western news I guess).

Thank you for taking questions, I hope you and your family are safe and cared for.

Hello, thank you for your beautiful questions. I will do my best to answer your questions. The problems of religious extremism began in the early years of the Islamic Revolution. It has always had three basic aspects:

  • The violation of women's rights
  • Economic problems
  • Anti-war and the illusions of Khomeini and Khamenei to take away the rights of Muslims and destroy America (from the first day of the Revolution) and Israel

I will give you examples of each of these problems, so that it may be of more help to you. 1- About the violation of women's rights. My mother said that in high schools, early in the revolution, they would put razors between the napkins and the toilets. So that if someone used lipstick and wanted to wipe their lips, they would cut them. If men wore short-sleeved shirts, they would paint their bodies. There were many illogical and even ineffective methods ( also for government itself) . Gradually, men and women were able to gain some freedom with freedom of thought and social culture, but the hijab was still banned.

The second thing: I once read here that someone said that Elon Musk and Trump are as crazy as Khomeini. Khomeini had a famous saying in the days of the revolution: Economics is for donkeys...

And I don't need to say that our country, even though I earn $0.3 per hour as a simple worker (buying 10 eggs costs $1, almost a little more), spends its treasury on destroying countries like Israel and America.

Third case Since the first day of the revolution, there has been no change. Every day in the queues of Iranian schools, people say, "Death to America and Israel," even though we are all fascinated by their world full of wonders and freedom. There is no end to it. There is evidence that shows that the Islamic Republic has given the country's water budget to Palestinians who were killed for the past 4 years. I once mentioned this statistic to my high school teacher, but he didn't give me a grade, even though high school was for brilliant talents.

The country of Iran, under the shadow of the Islamic Republic, is primarily seeking freedom from its own people. Unfortunately, I do not have much access to Western news, but I must tell you this to convey the badness of Iran. In recent times, over 20,000 Iranians have been killed, and I was at the protests for two days. I saw three people killed with my own eyes. And they took money from the families to deliver the bodies of these people. so this is what iran really look like from inside. sorry i use translate it was large text.

Thank you for such a detailed response! It is quite a bit to take in, I guess I had hoped that Iran was much better and that the media had exaggerated what was going on. I'm sorry to hear that you were at the protests and witnessed your comrades be murdered. That would definitely fuck me up a bit.

How's the internet access in the country right now? Only people with starlink get to connect at all?

[–] gfaerny@lemmy.world 4 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

so for now we can hardly find some proxy config for access to internet. in general i can say 6/10 of people have access but we have some problem. in past 5 years they try to make Iran internet to intranet you can read about it here : https://powell-software.com/resources/blog/difference-between-intranet-and-internet/ in the one of the firsts day of Protests (Jan 8 2026) they change our access from internet to "iran intranet" and also closing telephone lines(They wanted the protesters to have no access to calls, so that they would no longer be able to communicate with each other even by calling.), and this status continued for 13 day i guess. and from then until now they filter some of proxy protocol like vless, but this mfs can every time they want change this conditions to intranet.i hope i help ,sorry again for my english.
