This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.
Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.
Posting Guidelines
All posts should follow this basic structure:
- Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
- What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
- Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
- Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
- Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.
Rules
- Post only about bans or other sanctions that you have received from a mod or admin.
- Don’t use private communications to prove your point. We can’t verify them and they can be faked easily.
- Don’t deobfuscate mod names from the modlog with admin powers.
- Don’t harass mods or brigade comms. Don’t word your posts in a way that would trigger such harassment and brigades.
- Do not downvote posts if you think they deserved it. Use the comment votes (see below) for that.
- You can post about power trippin’ in any social media, not just lemmy. Feel free to post about reddit or a forum etc.
- If you are the accused PTB, while you are welcome to respond, please do so within the relevant post.
Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.
Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

Some acronyms you might see.
- PTB - Power-Tripping Bastard: The commenter agrees with you this was a PTB mod.
- YDI - You Deserved It: The commenter thinks you deserved that mod action.
- YDM new - You Deserved More: The commenter thinks you got off too lightly.
- BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction: That mod probably overreacted in charged situation, or due to being baited.
- CLM - Clueless Mod: The mod probably just doesn't understand how their software works.

The word "never" is the key point here. You may very well criticize the Iranian government and defend the progressives in the country, but I would bet 100€ that if we go 1 year back on any of your social media, you have never made this criticism before. Why now particularly, during the military buildup by the US before the imminent attack on Iran? Why specifically Iran too? Clue: it's because the imperial propaganda apparatus has decided that discussing the repression in Iran right now is the agenda, as part of a larger atrocity propaganda campaign.
You'd lose that bet. as I said: that's a bunch of assumptions you just *make about strangers on the internet.

And why exactly are those protests happening now, I wonder? Maybe because the US+EU imposed a sanction regime on Iran that has destroyed the national currency's exchange value and massively impoverished the vast majority of the population? I'm sure that's also coincidental and has nothing to do with attempts at regime change in the country. It's not like the US has ever explicitly said that it applies economic sanctions to create hunger, desperation and overthrow of governments. Oh, wait...

That's irrelevant to my point. "Nuanced criticism" of the Iranian government the week before it's invaded is bad strategy for socialists in the west, there's already plenty of criticism in all media due to the anti-Iranian government atrocity propaganda. The entire thing circles down to you having good intentions by posting about progressives in Iran being repressed, but doing so during a period of extreme duress in the country which has been caused by the US+EU governments sanctions, and at a time when the country is about to be invaded by the US.
Your intentions are noble and commendable, and I respect them, but you're unintentionally carrying water for the US invasion by replicating atrocity propaganda at this particular moment.

Your original banned comment includes the words: "I'd like to point out that there is indeed quite massive repression going on against protestors in Iran". You're unwilling to accept that this IS, by definition, atrocity propaganda, and it means you're carrying water for the US, however good your intentions are. I tried to discuss this politely with you but you started swearing at me. That's my reason, you got defensive and started insulting me when I started showing the flaws of your political stance.
So, are you claiming that there weren't protests going on and those weren't answered with massive repression? Were's the exaggeration? Where's the fabrication? The original post was stating that everything's fine in Iran, while massive protests were going on (which you acknowledged yourself)

Those protests were going on, and massive repression has occurred. Atrocity propaganda can be (and is in fact most effective when it is) real. I didn't claim you lied, I didn't claim the article was false. You misunderstand that the word "propaganda" necessarily means that it's false, it doesn't necessarily imply falseness. Atrocity propaganda simply means you're focusing part of the discourse on crimes of the opposing side, and you're actively engaging this. You literally made it a point to write a comment pointing out to the repression in a post about Iran that wasn't discussing this: you CHOSE to bring it up and deviate the conversation of the post towards crimes of the Iranian government. This is a textbook example of atrocity propaganda.
Again: I don't doubt that you're doing this coming from a good place and with the good intention of supporting progressive comrades in Iran. I'm just reminding you that doing this during an ongoing military buildup against Iran in the context of protests generated by western sanctions killing Iranians through poverty IS atrocity propaganda.
You're in no position to criticize my post if you didn't engage with it's content, i.e. the article. You continue to refuse reading it and throw around baseless campist accusations, instead (e.g. that this was the first time I'd be in open solidarity with leftist protestors in Iran).
