My memory is hazy but I thought the Kazon were going after the array to use it to destroy the Ocampa.
Yes, but the array was also the Ocampan's primary source of energy. They'd only survive a limited time on their own.
I checked, and the caretaker supplied them with 100 years of energy before he passed. The Kazon were going to use the array to take their water, effectively destroying them immediately.
