oh my fucking god is that him trying to melt snow with a lighter?
it's... physics! it takes a shitload of energy to melt ice! that's why you don't see anyone in the history of ever try to clear snow with fucking flamethrowers, it doesn't fucking work!
That's why USSR used a jet engine from MiG-15 to do it:

TBH, it mostly blows snow away and melts only the remainder.
IIRC their thing is that you can burn/char snow with a lighter which must mean it's fake snow! Being generous and assuming it's not fake, I would say this is due to pollutants, but what do I know.
it's due to the incomplete combustion of the fuel from the lighters lmao like I could literally (and have done this) take an ice cube from my freezer and blacken it with a bic
this is also why the blowtorch doesn't blacken it, more complete combustion = no sooty build up
