Yah, I think the left and progressives broadly get too much satisfaction seeing conservative infighting because we project the way we infight onto them, like it's principled and thought-out.
Nah fam, this is like that couple who lives across the apartment complex from you and gets into loud screaming matches every other night, then you see them the next day and they're climbing all over each other in public.
They're reactionaries, they don't have firm values or principles, they just scream whatever they're feeling at the moment, and feelings can change like the wind.
I always think the right values order and group cohesion more, so they let their previous infighting be bygone.
They broadly have stronger cohesion because frankly dumb people lean on each other to get through hardships, it's what we've done as a species for hundreds of thousands of years to fantastic success. It's overpowered. Ten people with room temperature IQ's who back each other up no matter what are going to always beat out a group of people who are very intelligent but each have their own vision for a longer-term future.
Some people are more predisposed to look up to hierarchy and authority, and also not to rock the boat. They kinda go along with whatever the group does.
Yep, that's another survival tactic, it served us well when we were roaming and searching for places we could live and eat. Not so much now when we all are supposed to have our own wants and futures and we can get packaged meat at the local grocery store.
The trick is going to always be for our species to figure out ways to get people to use these survival impulses in ways that help us as a community. And I don't know how we're going to do that at all. Fear and anger are much stronger emotions than charity and compassion for strangers who look or talk different than us.
