The Minnesota National Guard, which had been activated earlier by Gov. Tim Walz, was assisting local police amid growing protests.

Not assisting the people of Minneapolis.

It bears mentioning that ICE has been aggressively harassing non-white cops as well, and the cops are getting pissed too, because they thought they were safe, and they’re definitely not.

This is a developing story, and I would like to give Walz the benefit of the doubt that he wants those cops there to make sure no other protesters get killed, until proven otherwise.

It's a very slim hope, but those are the only ones we have left. I don't think your cynicism or the resulting criticisms are misplaced though, and I fear you might be right.
