Then don't do those spider exercises. They are the band of my existence. I find putting the pressure on myself to practise just makes me less excited to, and I don't end up practising. Whereas if I find a song I'm interested in, it seems more exciting.
If none of these things interest you in the slightest, then maybe try something different. Although unless you've got anhedonia going on, maybe it could be a good experiment to try doing some practise and seeing how you feel before and after.
Also going to browse through YouTube and see if there's some kind of play along technical exercises thing for guitar. Playing with someone else might be helpful.
I’m getting a little better at them, they’re not bad. It’s just hard with weak and overly bendy hands.
The YouTube video I found is very good, nice and simple.
Unfortunately I think it might be big time anhedonia going on though 🫩 I suck at consistent practice of anything, I always have so I don’t expect to get anywhere.
I really shouldn’t have bought a ukulele as well because I dislike 99.99% of the songs for it. I just didn’t want to get something larger or more expensive and figured I could tune it as a mandolin - forgetting that most songs would still need more than 4 strings
I felt the same way about ukuleles and then ended up getting a guitar, but before I got a guitar, I got a ukulele capo, which did bridge that gap a little bit. Would recommend getting one to spice up the ukulele or making your own.
I considered getting one of those silent pocket guitars that you can buy for under $20 off ebay, it’s what I should have got but just didn’t know they existed.
It’s fine though. I’ll probably get distracted by something else in 5 minutes or when I can handle more screen time
