A place to discuss privacy and freedom in the digital world.
Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.
In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.
Some Rules
- Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
- Don't promote proprietary software
- Try to keep things on topic
- If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
- Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience
- Be nice :)

@tdTrX@lemmy.ml your account is (accidentally?) flagged as a bot so your posts won't be seen by anyone who has disabled bot posts. You might want to check your account settings.
VPN wouldn't cause it to flag you as a bot, that's a profile setting you control yourself. @cypherpunks@lemmy.ml detailed how you can change it in comment below.
In the web interface, click your username, then settings, then uncheck the "bot account" checkbox, and click save.
the lemmy instance you're using does allow VPNs.
It's a flag you set up yourself, it's in your user configuration.
Others have covered the bot flag, I'll add a bit more to this
Generally Lemmy (and Fediverse platforms) don't use sneaky dark patterns or hidden blocks. If you are blocked in some way, there should be something indicating it.
