that's 1 trillion teraflops btw, it's like 1 billion cutting edge GPUs for FP16. just the electricity, at 600 Watts (only the GPUs not including literally anything else, at perfect efficiency), that would be 600 gigawatts, or around 5250 TWh annually which is half the chinese grid, or 20% more than the entire US grid. at this point she could've said 1 morbillion, it doesn't matter it's just not going to happen.
EDIT: i forgot she said 10 yottaflops not 1 yottaflop. just multiply everything by 10. it still doesn't matter it's just not possible right now.
Or about 0.1mm/year of sea level rise, or 50 cubic kilometers of Antarctic ice melt, or one Hiroshima bomb every 2 minutes.
One gaming rig per child
Still can't play Crysis on ultra settings.
Shouldn't it be 10 trillion teraflops?
you're right. i think i also underestimated the power of GPUs by a factor of 2. the point is that number is entirely out of the realm of feasibility right now unless she redefines what a flop is. it's just shareholder talk to make the number go up.
