So he truely believes he runs the whole world..... If anyone is about to start ww3 anytime soon ..... it's him.

[–] iAmTheTot@sh.itjust.works 100 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Don't be ridiculous. FIFA doesn't just hand out their prestigious, respected peace prize to anyone.

[–] Vinylraupe@lemmy.zip 6 points 5 days ago

Ok this cracked me up 😂

[–] cmbabul@lemmy.world 28 points 5 days ago (2 children)

I would argue we’re already in WW3 it’s just not a full on “hot” world war quiet yet, this might do it though

[–] frongt@lemmy.zip 14 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It won't. Venezuela isn't a member of BRICS or anything. They're a member of OPEC, but that's an economic cartel, not a military alliance. They don't have the necessary allies to come to their aid to turn it into a world war.

[–] GraniteM@lemmy.world 10 points 5 days ago

OPEC managed to fuck United States up pretty bad back in the 70s.

[–] Danquebec@sh.itjust.works 8 points 5 days ago

We're in the Anschluss and Munich Agreement stages of WW3.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Literally, this has been standard US imperialism for the better part of a century.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 7 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The US inherited it from the British, there were people already living here. They have been invading sovereign nations in the name of the US since independence.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 0 points 5 days ago (1 children)

When exactly do you think the US colonial rebellion happened?

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

The 1700s. Whereas the last skirmishes of the Indian Wars ended after WWI. Europeans invaded the sovereign nations that were already here and then the US, after independence, continued to expand westward into places where people already lived.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world -2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

It ended in 1783, howbout you go reread my comment and do some math.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

Howbout you go reread their comment and do some math.

The Wounded Knee Massacre which ended tribal resistance and completed the conquest of their land happened in 1890, and then the "Renegade period" went on until 1924.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world -1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Holy fucking shit too many of you talk about shit you do not understand. The US is still occupying those lands and intends to eradicate Native American nations. If you also actually read my comment, you'd see that the person above was trying to explain something (inadequately) that was outside the scope of what I was addressing.

Fucking some of you have to develop humility jfc.

[–] 3abas@lemmy.world 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

The US is still occupying those lands and intends to eradicate Native American nations.

No shit. That's what they said, and you started arguing with unclear language. What were you addressing exactly?

Fucking some of you have to develop humility jfc.

Learn to communicate your points, your audience isn't dumb, your language is.

[–] orioler25@lemmy.world 0 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ, you're not the first person to call this an "audience." Reminds me of men who call their internet confrontations, "debates."

The commenter who I made fun of here brought up -- and incorrectly ignored the specificities of US imperialism -- a topic that was not relevant to my comment on US imperialism in the past century when they wanted to talk about US imperialism "inherited" from the British Empire over two centuries ago; apparently without even knowing when the Rebellion was.

My snide comments came with the assumption that my "audience" could think for themselves and figure out why someone would respond that way to what they said. Of course, I do not write effectively for an "audience" who does not.

I won't read your response, I write these when I'm bored or waiting in line.

It is relevant, they were agreeing with your sentiment and extending the timeline by correctly asserting that it goes further back than a century.

apparently without even knowing when the Rebellion was.

When exactly do you think the US colonial rebellion happened?

How is that apparent? And what point do you think you're making exactly? Do you think because they rebelled and started their own empire that somehow negates that they inherited it from the empire they expanded from?

The commenter who I made fun of

My bad, I assumed you're having a conversation in good faith.

I won't read your response, I write these when I'm bored or waiting in line.

Same, and I'm bored of your childish, quick to anger, holier than thou attitude. Develop some humility.

Leader of the free world has quite a history, full of violations of other countries sovereignty.
