I just pirated it anyway but epic games seems to be fine? I got it to play fork-knife with my niblings and it seems to be just as shitty as steam

Yeah but it's worth noting ZA/UM gets no additional benefit from anyone claiming the game here.

Someone in a different thread pointed out that they get metrics they use to justify to funders, downloads per month show that the company is viable and worth investing in.

I don't know much about why the devs suck and pirate everything anyway

They don't disclose AI stuff. It's also a bit harder to use on Linux.

To be fair, Steam has a Linux-based hardware business now, so they're pretty committed to making things Linux compatible
