They're recommending people play the Crystal Clear ROMhack before the original version of Pokemon Crystal. What in the fuck.
The key is to never listen to a gamers recommendation especially gamers in reddit
Yeah, Redditors and their stupid little lists or maps for the best way to play game series where you're supposed to play it across like 6 different consoles and install specific PC fan mods/fixes can get pretty stupid. I'm fine with people doing it for fun for themselves or just theorycrafting the 'best way' to play a game series or something, but yeah.
Worst thing I do is recommend someone play the GBA version of FF6 with the music restoration patch over the SNES original and even then I'm not demanding people play it over the SNES or something. Or trying to disguise it as the only option.
I dont even recommend i just list options so the person knows but give no recommendation as to which way to play it. Pick whatever is convenient and available but heres some interesting things to know.
It removes most of the story, difficulty curve, general flow, etc. It's like recommending one of those first-person mods for Elden Ring or some such before playing the original game. Even if it's better in some way, a lot of the appreciation or ability to play it is built on someone having already played the official game. There are ROMhacks that 'fix' Crystal for people who are emulating them and not doing trading, etc. But Crystal Clear isn't one of them.
wtf lol
"Oh u wanna play Baldurs gate? Here is a UX mod that skips every cut scene and dialog automatically and makes fights require use of potions."
