Well, it was the non-suffrage that was the issue.

Also I'd tack on the Senate even for the shortlist.

Abraham Lincoln put natives in concentration camps during the U.S.-Dakota War of 1862

And he’s usually regarded as the least awful president. Literally every single one of them has committed brutal crimes against humanity.

Even the dude that died after a month of being a president, he got to presidency climbing on a pile of dead Natives.

Original translation of a curious poetic:

  1. When the Nazis came for the communists, I kept quiet; I wasn't a communist.

  2. When they came for the trade unionists, I kept quiet; I wasn't a trade unionist.

  3. When they locked up the social democrats, I kept quiet; I wasn't a social democrat.

  4. When they locked up the Jews, I kept quiet; I wasn't a Jew.

  5. When they came for me, there was no one left to protest.

USA Version:

  1. First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a socialist.

  2. Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a trade unionist.

  3. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew.

  4. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

it was democratic for it's first Inception relative to the reality it was in, but as time moved on America became less and less relatively democratic, I don't think you could call it democratic when it's party 1 with slightly different opinions and party 2 with slightly different opinions, with every other view being punished by partisan and bi-partisan voices
