Are the Stalin death counts just all of the casualties (exaggerated) of the Russian civil war, but Stalin gets all of the blame and the antisemites get none of it? I never really understood how this works. All of the petty white Russian landlords, nobles, and bourgeoisie that had to be overthrown seem like they should be responsible.
Once upon a time, someone came up with a number and a (half-assed) justification, and since then every subsequent reteller has just added another million to it
Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems like Stalin killed 60% of the Soviet Union. You would think there would've been a revolution against him.
Also the population wouldn’t be increasing by millions every few years if over 60% were systematically killed over a decade or so… almost like it’s an absolutely immaterial claim with no basis other than trying to prove a point
It's like the Chinese genocide in Xinjiang. There's no bodies and the population grew, but it definitely happened.
I have always found it strange that Westerners who criticize the White Army always seem to narrowly focus on the anti-Semitism of the reactionaries, completely ignoring or glossing over the atrocities committed against everyone else. Are the Slavic, Turkic, Roma, and Finno-Ugric peoples of the former Russian Empire considered less than human, or if not, why do they never seem to be included in Western estimates of the number of people killed, both by the Whites and by the Nazis?

Often times they include all of the deaths of the eastern front of WW2 and will sometimes even go so far as to assume hypothetical children those people could have had and add them to the list as well.
If we adopted similar methodology for capitalism we would arrive at billions, considering centuries of colonialism.

The already very unserious Black Book of Communism blames the Soviet Union for 20 million deaths. The Black Book was published in 1997, so the Soviet Union must have claimed another 42 millions deaths in the last 3 decades by no longer existing.
It feels like the purpose of this slop is to make the other anticommunists seem more credible by comparison.
