A lot of services offer playlist imports now

Yeah looking at it, it looks like tidal does... question I do have is what's overall good for 2 people, who seem to like music a lot, My son probably more indie type things on youtube... my girlfriend probably more I guess generic music, plus techno I think. challenge I have is I probably need to set everything up and get it all ready for them to try out in order to get the switch...

but... I have no taste for music... or really understanding of most of it. So it's hard for me to pre-judge anything because... not really a service I can use or comprehend enough to tell what's actually useful or not.

This is probably going to be an unpopular opinion, but, imma say it anyway. If what you're using now works for you and your family and people are happy with continuing to use it, then keep using it. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. You have to pick your battles, and pick what you spend your time and your energy on. I personally don't know anything about tidal, I made the switch to YouTube music bc I already pay for YouTube premium, and I used their import tool for my liked songs and my playlists. Very easy, seamless experience for me, only a couple songs "couldn't be found" or YouTube picked the "wrong" version (like it picked a live version over a studio recording, for example).

But if what you're using is working out ... Idk man, might just be easier to keep using it. Esp since you're making it sound like you simply don't want to actually switch and you're starting to cave to peer pressure.
