I'm torn because on the one hand, murder simulators? Based on a real assassination? In the game my very young niece and nephew play? Yikes...

On the other hand, lol.

Lol there used to be a ton of assassination/real life disaster RP games on roblox - how do I know? my younger brother used to play them. I remember a JFK one he used to play but can't find any real history of it when I search online besides a few video thumbnails/photos.

also remember a space shuttle disaster one. I believe it was Challenger. Which, ok sure but the Abraham Lincoln Ford Theater roleplay games are....hm...

Thankfully he liked the Lua coding tutorial games more but it was always very funny (in a bleak way) to walk into his room and see him roleplaying like, an ER episode in some hospital where a bomb has gone off and people's legs are getting amputated and bleeding out.

idk about roblox but i do know "jfk reloaded"

here's a vice article from 2022 https://www.vice.com/en/article/how-jfk-reloaded-became-the-most-controversial-video-game-of-2004/

and some academicy writing from 2011

"Rebooting Counterfactual History with JFK Reloaded" https://www.playthepast.org/?p=1392 and the followup "A Revisionist History of JFK: Reloaded (Decoded)" https://www.playthepast.org/?p=1519

One of the largest games on Roblox is "Hide and Seek"

Where the hider is a victim in a school shooting and the seeker is the school shooter.

They made a game about school shooting and it's still up.

For clarification, it's not called hide and seek, it is very direct in the fact that it is literally gamifying a massacre, it was some shit along the lines of 'Survive a shooting'

it's a way for them to deal with the existential dread of being american schoolchildren?
